The Characteristics of Wet Mix Concrete Plants

There are two different kinds of concrete batching plant. Wet mix, and dry mix. Both of these are used to make concrete, but the important distinction is that a wet concrete plant can make concrete by itself, since it has a twin shaft paddle mixer. Dry concrete batching, on the other hand, needs you to have a concrete mixer truck as well.

There are some other differences, too. Here’s a quick look at the main differences between a dry mix and a wet batch concrete plant.

Wet mix concrete plants look more sophisticated – because they are. They have more equipment and more moving parts. Wet mix plants have a twin shaft concrete mixer, as well as conveyors, silos, etc. If you’re looking at buying a wet mix concrete plant, then you’ve probably noticed that there are sub-types. For example, there are skip hoist concrete plants, and there are belt conveyor batch concrete plants. Both of these ahve batching machines, mixers, and weighing systems, as well as cement silos and screw conveyors. There’s a lot going on and a lot to take care of. The difference is that in a skip hoist concrete batching plant and belt type concrete mixing plant, the aaggregate batcher will dose the aggregates, and then those aggregates will be lifted into a twin shaft mixer, by a hopper. Meanwhile in a belt conveyor, the aggregates will be conveyed to the waiting warehouse through the conveyor.

There is a cover on the conveyor, and the batches are sent to a warehouse. This means that the raw materials are protected from the elements and that if you use a belt conveyor concrete batching plant, you will get high-quality concrete regardless of the climate.

Wet mix plants can be stationary, or mobile. There are many different sizes and there are many different configurations. Mobile plants are a semi-trailer unit, and they can be moved with relative ease around large open spaces and smooth terrain (although they are not an ideal option for more difficult environments, and are not as nimble as smaller units). The mobile units do offr the benefit of being comparatively easy to install, move and disassemble compared to some of the bigger batching units.

Use Cases for Wet Mix Concrete

Where dry batch concrete plant is popular for high volume applications and for jobs where a lot of general quality concrete is needed, wet batches are popular in medium scale construction environments, prefab plants, and areas where you need a smaller or moderate amount of high-quality concrete. Wet batch plants tend to have a long service life, and they tend to be quite reliable in terms of their output. You can get a predictable level out output, but the output will be overall lower than it would be for dry mix plants.

It may be a good idea to try renting a unit for a job or two before you buy, to ensure that it can keep up with the needs of your specific site or working environmnt, since concrete mixer plants are quite a significant investment. But if you want to get a quality concrete plant, you need to find reliable macadam plant manufacturer, then you will get a reasonable price.
